Across Andover, Basingstoke and Farnborough and Aldershot, Andover Mind have been taking action this World Mental Health Day (WMHD).
Setting up camp in our Ugly Duckling shop, in the Chantry Centre Andover, our wellbeing and Safe Haven teams were encouraging the public to pot plants, leave positive messages and practice mindfulness. Taking inspiration from our Garden for Mind project, members of the public potted plants to either take away or donate, the perfect way to take care of your mind and body, connecting with nature, using the power of plants!
In Basingstoke, our wellbeing team joined forces with the Social Inclusion Partnership, an initiative led by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, to tackle homelessness, at an event in Festival Place. Whilst in Aldershot and Farnborough, our teams set up information stands in local shopping centres.
Our teams received a great response from getting out and about and taking action on Tuesday 10 October. Across Basingstoke, Farnborough and Aldershot, we had teams in the town centres, providing information, talking to you and shouting about the wonderful work we do at Andover Mind.

Opening our doors
The best way to show you what we do, is to invite you in, right? WMHD was the perfect opportunity for us to do this. Andover opened our doors on Tuesday afternoon, followed by Farnborough on Wednesday and Basingstoke on Thursday. Giving our local communities the opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes of our centres. There’s no denying that this was a great way of making our wellbeing centres feel less daunting and cultivating an atmosphere of care and comfort. Somewhere they can turn whenever they need to.
