In light of the current distressing situation across the UK, we cannot remain silent.

We are shocked and appalled by the racially motivated riots and acts of domestic terrorism.

The incident in Aldershot targeting a migrant hotel, close to our wellbeing centre, and the concerning views shared by Hampshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner highlight the urgent need for us to speak up.

Racism and violence have no place in our society. As the leading mental health charity in our region, Andover Mind is committed to being an anti-racist organisation. We will not tolerate racism of any kind.

“At Andover Mind, we recognise that being an anti-racist organisation is crucial not only for promoting equity and justice but also for the mental wellbeing of the communities in which we work. Racism and discrimination have profound negative impacts on mental health, and it is our responsibility to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued. By actively opposing racism, we not only uphold our commitment to diversity but also support the mental health and resilience of our employees, volunteers and the people who use our services.”
— Lou Ellison, Communications Manager at Andover Mind

These abhorrent incidents are deeply disturbing and will undoubtedly leave many of us feeling scared and vulnerable, especially those who do not identify as White British/English.

We know how frightening and unsettling these incidents of violence are for some of our employees, volunteers and the people who use our services, who identify as such.

If this speaks to you, speak to us…

If these events are impacting your mental health, we’re here to help anyone who needs us.
