Andover Mind will be participating in a Social Prescribing event, organised by Andover PCN, taking place on 9th March 2023 between 11-3pm.
What is social prescribing?
Social prescribing is a holistic approach that connects people to activities, groups, and services in their community to meet the practical, social and emotional needs that affect their health and wellbeing, to address issues which can’t be treated by doctors or medicine alone.
What to expect?
This is an information event open to the general public. You can enjoy complimentary tea and cake whilst explore the wonderful work of local services providing non-medical social and emotional support in and around Andover .
As well as our wellbeing and mental health team from Andover Mind, there will also be stall from Andover Leisure Centre, Chapel Arts, The Lighthouse, and Yellow Brick Road, as well as a music therapy, cosy corner and craft activities.
Where and when is it happening?
The event takes place at from 11am-3pm at the Health Hub, located within the Chantry Centre, Andover. There’s no need to book, just come along and find out how social prescribing could help you improve your health and wellbeing.
What is Andover Primary Care Network?
Primary Care Networks form a key building block of the NHS long-term plans. By bringing general practices together it is hoped to provide a wider range of services to patients whilst also decreasing the workload on GP’s, improving the ability of practices to recruit and retain staff, manage finances and facilities more efficiently and to more easily integrate with the wider health and care system.
Andover Primary Care Network is a collaborative project involving the following GP Surgeries:

- Andover Health Centre Medical Practice
- Charlton Hill Surgery
- Shepherds Spring Medical Centre
- St Mary’s Surgery
