As of 31 August 2024, Andover Mind will no longer be providing the Carer Support and Dementia Advice Service, commissioned and funded by Hampshire County Council.
Starting in September 2024, a new countywide service, still commissioned and funded by Hampshire County Council called the ‘Hampshire Carer Support Service,’ will be delivered by the Princess Royal Trust for Carers. This new service will be available for carers over 18 who support individuals with long-term health conditions, including dementia, as well as those with physical or learning disabilities.
The new Hampshire Carer Support Service will offer a comprehensive range of assistance, including information and advice, direct one-to-one support for complex needs, and contingency and emergency planning to help carers prepare for unexpected situations. The primary goal being to ensure carers can sustain their caring roles while preserving their own health and wellbeing.
We understand this may be concerning, and we are committed to doing everything we can to support our existing service users during this transition.
Thank you for entrusting us with your support over the past 16 years. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served you and remain committed to your continued well-being during this period of change.
Andover Mind, the mental health charity, will continue to deliver a wide range of services, groups and activities designed to important and support the wellbeing, at their centres in Andover, Basingstoke and Aldershot, and in the community from their Ugly Duckling retail store, and the Garden for Mind on the Leckford Estate.
Andover Mind will continue to process new referrals into the service up until the 31 August, but after this time, you will need to contact the new provider via their website carercentre.com
Their crisis service, Safe Haven, in Basingstoke and Aldershot is open every evening, 365 days a year, to provide out of hours support for anyone who needs it and can be accessible without an appointment or referral on a drop in basis, or via an ‘instant’ online video meeting via the website andovermind.org.uk
