Carer Support and Dementia Advice

As a provider delivering services to those who are most vulnerable, the last 3 weeks have presented us with many challenges. Meeting them has required some creative thinking and a willingness to adopt an unconventional approach. Ultimately we have had to transition to some very different ways of working.

Our Carer Support and Dementia Advice Service is still accepting new referrals and is now offering the following:

  • Video initial assessments or telephone appointments to replace any face to face contact
  • Virtual support groups to launch from the 17th of April across all areas (details to follow)
  • Welfare telephone checks to all known clients and carers across the county
  • Our telephone and email service has been extended to weekend working as of the 11th of April. This will be to focus on reaching the most vulnerable with the aim of reducing social isolation
  • Virtual keeping safe and well packs are being sent out to all carers for whom we have email address information

Well-being

Despite these unprecedented times, our Well-being team continue to deliver services to anyone  needing support with their mental health and well-being. We have faced some  challenges, but have adapted quickly and creatively to ensure provision continues to be available. Providing services via telephone and various digital platforms means we continue to connect with and support our current service users. In addition we have also been able to maintain contact with our partners and to be there for anyone in the community who would like advice, information or support with their mental health and well-being. We continue to accept new referrals as normal. In addition to this, we are offering the following:

  • Assessments either via digital platforms or telephone appointments to replace any face to face contact
  • Support groups and  short courses via digital platforms starting  week commencing  20th April
  • Well-being welfare calls to our current service users across Test Valley, Basingstoke & Deane and Hart & Rushmoor
  • Access to the Big White Wall where appropriate
  • Emailing support information to all service users where email addresses have been provided
  • Expansion of our service to 7 days a week and also including some evenings to 8pm (details to follow)
