Andover Mind is one of Hampshire’s leading mental health charities. With 1 in 6 young people experiencing a mental health problem (and this is expected to rise), we have recently launched our “Be You” young persons service. This new service allows us to support young people aged 11-17 in Andover to help build resilience and coping skills and to learn, support and maintain their well-being, particularly as we emerge from the pandemic.

This position is an exciting opportunity to be part of our newly created team in its early stages and contribute towards the success of its services.

As an integral and highly valued member of the team, you are able to “give something back” in a positive way by using your own knowledge and experience of living with, and recovering from, mental illness.

Using your excellent communication skills, you will help young people focus on achievable goals using a person centred approach whilst remaining calm and professional in any stressful or challenging situation.

With your understanding, or experience of, vulnerable young people, you will work with other members of the team to assist a young person to access information on leisure activities, health promotion, and to obtain information which will enable them to access benefits and welfare rights resources.

This is explicitly a non-clinical role which does not involve treatment, assessment or evaluation.

So, if you have strong ability to professionally share coping, self-help and self-management techniques with your peers, are enthusiastic and friendly, we would love to hear from you!

We offer ongoing training and development to all staff and 27 days holiday entitlement rising to 30 days after 3 full years service plus bank holidays.

Hours: 6 hours per week. One session to be ideally worked Wednesday 5:30 to 8:30pm plus one session Saturday 1:30 to 4:30pm with the possibility of some flexibility for the weekday session
