Safe Haven community outreach practitioner

(12 month fixed term contract)

At Andover Mind, we believe that no one should have to face a mental health difficulty alone. 

We are seeking a self motivated, compassionate and resilient mental health practitioner to join the growing team at our North and Mid Hampshire Safe Haven, based in Basingstoke. Our Safe Havens opens every evening, 365 days a year, providing emotional and practical support to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.

As well as working directly to support service users, the role also includes community outreach to promote the Safe Haven, liaising with partner organisations and professionals within our region (Basingstoke, Andover, Romsey and the surrounding area.) with the aim of increasing referrals from beyond the immediate vicinity, creating a more accessible and inclusive service to those in crisis and their carers. 

About the role
You will join us at an exciting time of service development as we increase the remit and activity of our established Safe Haven.

Reporting to the Safe Haven manager, you will support them in delivering community outreach activities, including the planning and development of marketing and promotion of the service, working on a shift rota 7 evenings a week. The 37.5 hours will include working some shifts alongside our amazing team.

You will conduct initial and crisis assessments via telephone, virtually and face to face, complete risk assessments and offer practical and emotional support as well as signposting individuals to community partners.

About you
The ideal candidate will have experience of supporting people experiencing mental health crises or at risk of crisis, completing assessments and risk management plans.

You will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

You will ideally be qualified to City & Guilds/BTEC Health & Social Care (Level 2) or equivalent and have experience of delivering crucial support to individuals that are suffering with drug and alcohol addiction.
