What is legacy giving?
A legacy is a donation left to a charity in your will. It’s a lasting gift so that the work the charity does can continue. Whether your legacy be large or small, we assure you that your gift will be used wisely.
How do I leave a legacy?
You could leave a fixed cash sum in your will (a pecuniary legacy) or, a percentage of what you own after your family and friends have received what you want to give them (a residuary legacy). Whilst it’s easy to include a gift to Andover Mind in your will, you should always consult a professional such as a solicitor or financial adviser to be sure your will reflects your exact intentions and you understand tax implications.
What should I write in my will?
If you already have a will, you can fill in a Codicil form to add your legacy gift to it. These are available here or can be requested from our office.
Or, you can include the following in your will:
For a residuary legacy (a share of your estate), include:
I give (insert percentage) of my residuary estate to Andover Mind (registered charity number 1039094) Westbrook Close, South Street, Andover, Hants, SP10 2BN, to be applied for its general purposes. I declare that the receipt of the finance director or appropriate officer shall be a complete discharge to my trustees.
For a pecuniary legacy (a cash lump sum), include:
I give (insert amount) to Andover Mind, (registered charity number 1039094) Westbrook Close, South Street, Andover, Hants, SP10 2BN to be applied for its general purposes. I declare that the receipt of the finance director or appropriate officer shall be a complete discharge to my trustees.
While we are proud to be affiliated with national Mind we are a charity in our own right. We do not receive funding from our national Body and therefore please note that should you wish to ensure that your legacy is used within your community it is essential that our name and charity number is detailed in your will.
We would be delighted to hear from you.
