Vocational Advice from Andover Mind

The Vocational Advice Service is based in Wessex Chambers, South Street, Andover. Although based in a separate location, the service remains a part of Andover Mind.

The Vocational Advice Service can offer one to one support in helping an individual to find paid work, voluntary work, training or education. The service is always tailored to the needs of the individual, however examples of our work may include:

  • Assistance with CV writing and application forms
  • Liaising with colleges/training providers
  • Advice and signposting if someone wishes to set up their own business

Another important role of the service is to promote Job Retention. If someone is in paid employment and that employment is at risk because of mental ill health, we can liaise with both the employer and employee to try to resolve any difficulties that are occurring. The type of work done in this area is also very varied, but may include:

  • Offering suggestions on suitable reasonable adjustments for someone who is experiencing a mental health problem.
  • Negotiating suitable phased returns to work, after a period of sickness absence
  • Offering mental health awareness training for staff and managers.
