ANDOVER MIND “LECKFORD GROUP”
Dementia and Alzheimer’s
Although based at our Resource Centre at Arcade House, this service is held at a local Community Hall. The service is for those who experience dementia and early signs of Alzheimers, providing group activities for the service users and valuable respite for their carers.
We currently provide support in the following areas
- Increase in social networks
- Memory stimulation
- Social outings
Service Times
The group meets each Wednesday
Core time :- 10am – 4pm
(pick-ups from 9.30am ; returning 3.30pm onwards)
Charges
There is no charge for this service. There is a small charge for tea and coffee; lunch can also be purchased, provided by “Meals on Wheels”.
Transport
Transport can be provided within the local area. The current minibus does not have wheelchair access; service users must be physically capable of accessing the minibus or have the help of their support worker.
Eligibility
For those aged 50 and above, who experience dementia and early signs of Alzheimers. We are unable to offer support with personal care, should this be necessary, the support worker is welcome to accompany the service user.
The service is not open to those whose primary problem is alcohol or drug related.
How to Access Our Service
Through referral via the Specialist Older Persons mental health services.
We currently do not accept self referrals or direct via local GP
